The "Girl Power Squad" was an initiative first presented by Anthony Aulsebrook in March 2005. With the assistance of KBInc, VBRA - Knox Branch, VBRA and Basketball Victoria.
VBRA Knox Branch was awarded a $10,000 Government Grant to assist with funding the projects involved with the initiative.
One of the main initiatives of the program was to
increase retention rates of female officials and work
closely with them to continue to develop their skills as
referees and promote them in any way possible to develop
as top class officials in Australia.
We are pleased to announce that over the course of the
last two years we have successfully increased the
retention rate of female officials and in fact increased
the number of female officials within the branch from
approximately 30% of total members to a staggering 45%
within the branch today.
Congratulations needs to be passed to Anthony
Aulsebrook, the 2005 / 06 / 07 committees and Knox
Basketball Incorporated for all of the hard work that has
gone into the program over the last 2 years.
We are pleased to announce that the GPS program will
continue to be a part of the association for the
foreseeable future with a GPS representative being
included in the new Development Committee by laws.
Please keep an eye on this section of the website for
any future announcements.
